2011 Mazda 2 first look

With lofty government mandated fuel economy benchmarks bringing the pain on one hand and an unsteady economy spurring shopper premium on the other, carmakers are serving up additional subcompact autos to U. S. Purchasers than ever. Around the most hotly suspected (at least right around Auto and Driver staffers) is the 2011 Mazda 2, Mazda's first America bound B segment vehicle in consideration of the 323 and seemingly the greatest such auto Mazda has ever assembled.

In spite of the fact that Mazda is calling the 2011 model the “third generation” of the 2, its more or less a refresh of the second gen auto sold around the globe by reason of 2008. Aside from redesigned front and rear belts and sundry newfangled interior bits, its basically the same auto as ever, one that divisions its structural engineering with Portage's slick brand new Holiday which, incidentally, likewise reaches stateside for 2011.

Mazda 2 2011 origin

Originating with the introduction of the Mazda 121 in 1987, this B-segment small car was based on the Mazda D-platform. Ford also used a version of the first-generation DA 121 known as the Ford Festiva. Mazda later released the Autozam Revue in 1990 with the next generation of the D-platform DB. It was redesigned for January 1993, still based on the same DB platform. Kia also built versions of the DA and DB, both for itself and for Ford's sale as Ford Aspire in the United States which Kia sold as the Pride and Avella.

2011 Mazda 2 sales

A month after sales of Japanese models began 15000 units were sold. Top 3 selling models featuring Sunlight Silver Metallic, Metropolitan Grey Mica and Icy Blue Metallic body colours, and Spirited Green Metallic body among top 5.
In August 2010, it is reported that 400,000 units has been sold in Europe, Australia and Japan
